SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR Records BLACK FLAG Track, Changes Project Name (Again)
June 7, 2002SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor has just recorded his contribution to the West Memphis Three benefit album for the three young men—Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin—who were allegedly convicted unfairly of murder. Taylor laid down his vocals to a cover of an as-yet-undisclosed BLACK FLAG track performed by MOTHER SUPERIOR, the backing band of former BLACK FLAG frontman Henry Rollins, who is spearheading the project.
In other news, it now appears that Taylor has once again changed the name of his project to STONE SOUR—the name of his band prior to SLIPKNOT—from the previously reported CLOSURE (prior to which SUPEREGO was to be the group's moniker). The band's debut album is currently being mixed by Toby Wright and is set for a September 9th release through Roadrunner Records. Produced by the band and Tom Tatman (i.e. LIVING SACRIFICE, CRAIG ERICKSON),the CD will include such tracks as "Get Inside", "Orchids", "Blue Study" and an alternate version of "Bother", which recently appeared on the Spider-Man soundtrack.
STONE SOUR will be making a rare live appearance on June 23rd at the Toad Holler in Des Moines, Iowa, where they will be joined on the bill by DOWNTHESUN and INDEX CASE.
